Terry’s passion for skincare began in 1984 when he and his partner Doug started their own business in Prairie Village, Kansas. The start was made interesting due to the fact that Kansas or Missouri did not have a separate licensure for estheticians at the time, it was included under a full cosmetology license. Terry became fully certified and licensed as a cosmetologist and traveled to both Canada and Germany for esthetics training. He then was invited by the board to illustrate why esthetics should be its own licensure and what esthetics is really about. With a trailer loaded with an “esthetics room,” Terry traveled to a Kansas Board of Cosmetology meeting and helped shape what the esthetics licensure is today and the profession in general.
